Lake Bled
A Day at Beautiful Lake Bled…
Lake Bled is one of those places that will steal your heart away with its breathtaking beauty. Located in the Julian Alps of Slovenia, this tranquil freshwater lake is a true haven for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. My husband and I recently visited Lake Bled and had one of the most memorable days of our lives. I can’t wait to share our journey with you all!

The day started with us hiring a plentna, a traditional boat found only in Slovenia, to take us across the turquoise waters of Lake Bled. Our rower, a former Olympic rower who had won a medal for his country, expertly paddled us to the pilgrimage church dedicated to the Assumption of Mary. The view from the lake was stunning, with clear water and the surrounding mountains in the background.

After our visit to the church, we stopped on the island at a small cafe to enjoy a cold beer and some gelato. The chill in the air made the beer taste even better, and the gelato was the perfect companion for our afternoon stroll.

Vintgar Gorge

Our next adventure was a hike at Vintgar Gorge. The boardwalk through the canyon was a surreal experience. We followed the river with its crystal clear water cascading over the rocks as the canyon walls towered above us. The views were magnificent, and we felt blessed to witness nature’s beauty up close.

Finally, we decided to support a local artisan and buy a handmade scarf. That really showcased the handiwork of Slovenians, and we couldn’t resist purchasing something handmade. The artisan explained how they used traditional methods to craft each scarf, and we left with a piece of the country that would always remind us of our visit to Lake Bled.
Lake Bled is not only a beautiful location but it also offers many thrilling activities. We had a perfect day exploring the area and were enamored by the warm and welcoming people. It was worth every moment, and we will cherish our memories forever. So, if you are planning to visit Slovenia, make sure to add Lake Bled to your itinerary; trust me, you won’t regret it!

Day 2
Ljubljana
Ljubljana, what a gem!
After weeks of researching our trip to go to Crotia. We decided to add a extra leg into Slovenia. I am so glad that we did, and we loved visiting the capital city – Ljubljana.
We were filled with excitement and anticipation after a beautiful visit to lake bled.

Our first meal was at a small riverside café in the old town, and we were greeted with the most scenic views of the Ljubljanica river. The perfectly clear blue skies and warm sun rays made the atmosphere highly romantic and the perfect spot for couples.
On the bridge there is a stunning dragon statue. Our guide told us this was a symbol of the city’s emblem and dates back to ancient Slavic mythology. It’s a must-visit landmark.

Predjama Castle

We took a trip to the Predjama Castle, built into a cave in the 13th century. The castle has served as a fortress, hideout, and noble residence over the centuries. We were fascinated to learn that the castle was once home to Erazem of Predjama, a knight with a reputation for defiance and cunning!

Postojna Cave
We also visited the Postojna cave where we took a guided tour following the train car through the underground world. It’s a stunning karstic cave system of over 24 km of tunnels, halls, and galleries. It’s best said to be a fairy-tale underworld, where we witnessed amazing color schemes, stalactites, and stalagmites.
