Our journey to Vis island in Croatia was nothing short of a romantic escapade.
We arrived to Vis by fairy leaving Split. Our airbnb allowed us to leave our rental car parked at their location for a small fee and we took a large boat where we had a small snack and latte.
After the relatively short trip when made it to Vis. The old city and bussling harbor made for a romantic and intriguing place.
We rented a scooter and did not follow a map or have a destination in mind. It is a very small island and takes just a couple of hours to see the whole thing. as we rode a scooter to the highest peak and took in the spectacular views. With hardly any traffic, we felt free to fully explore the island and everything it had to offer.
Lunch was an amazing we found a harbor side cafe on the opposite side of the island. We indulged in the freshest seafood and a crisp salad. The food was excellent, and we took joy in experiencing the most enchanting setting.
Our adventure continued with a private boat ride to learn about the local culture, history, and traditions of the island. Our guide shared riveting stories of Vis’ past and how it was occupied by Yugoslavia. As we took in the views, we felt grateful to have such a knowledgeable guide by our side.
The Blue Cave was beyond our wildest dreams. Our guide secured our tickets, so we didn’t have to wait in line, and we were transported to the Cave on a guided tour boat. The Cave’s beauty is unmatched, a rare natural wonder that left us in awe. A place so exquisite, it was believed to be the home of sea monsters by the locals.
And then we found ourselves at a small, secluded beach with crystal clear waters. We soaked up the sun, swam, and snorkeled, uncovering the remnants of a WWII airplane wing near the beach, an intriguing piece of history to see beneath the waves.
Vis is an island filled with magic, perfect for couples seeking a romantic hideaway or those looking for that extra bit of adventure. It’s a place where you can marvel at natural beauty, indulge in exquisite local cuisine, and embrace the peaceful and unhurried island pace.
