As we stepped into the enchanting city of Dubrovnik, we were immediately taken aback by its rich history and romantic charm. The cobblestone streets and ancient architecture that lined the city were a testament to the incredible heritage that it possesses. The city walls, which were built and rebuilt in the 13th – 15th centuries to protect against the Turkish invasion, were almost 20 feet thick and 82 feet high, standing as a testament to the city’s fortitude and resilience.
We began our exploration of the city by taking a guided tour with a Game of Thrones theme, which provided us with a unique perspective on the city’s history. We learned about the city’s past, which included being an important trading center in the Mediterranean and surviving a devastating earthquake in 1667. Along with Game of Thrones, we visited several iconic locations such as the Franciscan Monastery, Rector’s Palace, and Dubrovnik Cathedral, all of which were built during the Renaissance period and were a testament to the city’s cultural and artistic significance.

Despite the city’s turbulent past, it has now become a hub for tourists and travelers from all around the world. We were able to find a cozy Airbnb in the city center, which may have been small but provided us with an unforgettable view of the city. Every night, we indulged in delicious pizza and sat out in the main courtyard area, watching as the world passed us by.
Dubrovnik is truly a city steeped in history and romance. From its ancient walls to its quaint cafes and restaurants, the city has something for everyone. As we bid farewell to this magical city, we were filled with a sense of awe and gratitude for the incredible memories we had created during our stay.
