One of the greatest cities in the world.
The Colosseum
The Colosseum is simply spectacular, and it could hold 50,000 people and was dedicated to the Roman Emperor Titus in 80 CE with 100 days of games.

Alter of the Fatherland

The Roman Forum

The Spanish Steps
The Pantheon
The Pantheon is such an amazing place to visit. The scale of it is so incredible especially since it was a Roman temple from 609 AD. Then it became a Catholic Church the Basilica of Santa Maria.

The Trevi Fountain
The Trevi Fountain is from the 18th century it was designed by Nicola Salvi

Castel Sant’Angelo

The tomb of the Roman emperor Hadrian, also was built next to the Tiber River. It was originally erected between AD 134 and 139. It does not have a decoration inside because over the years it was transformed into a fortress. It does have some very cool models inside showing the progression of the structure. It is one of many icons in Rome and it was nice to go inside since we missed going on our first trip.

Vatican City
We were fortunate to do two tours at the Vatican. We did the guided tour of the crypts below the Vatican, but you are not allowed to take pictures. We have done this twice the first time we did it we thought that it was maybe the greatest guided tour we had ever been on, this time it did not seem to be as good. The guide the second time spoke English, but she was difficult for us to understand and some of the excavation site was closed because they were working. Which is not anyone’s fault we completely understand. Also, you were able to get closer to the remains the first time than you are now. That being said I would still highly recommend it. You must book the crypt tours online a few months in advance before you go online through the Vatican at scavi tours.

We also did a guided tour to the Sistine Chapel it is a great tour because they bring you into the chapel as the tours are ending. So you are the last ones to visit the Chapel on that day, then they run everyone out and it is just your small group left in the Chapel. At the conclusion of the tour, you also get a small dinner. The dinner wasn’t that special but being able in a small group that is quiet in the Sistine Chapel is beautiful.
